Another Earth (video release 2011-11-29) shows a beautiful sky with a large, duplicate planet Earth (defying the laws of physics, but that does not matter). It could have been an interesting sci-fi movie, but it is not. This is really a movie that asks philosophical questions by having the second Earth as a metaphor.
The Adventures of Tintin 3D (丁丁歷險記) is great. Its trailer does not do it justice. This movie is fast paced, interesting, and exciting. The only possible downside is its creepy CG style of human characters that some people may not like. Despite its origin and the appearance of Tintin, this movie is not a typical kid’s movie, and can certainly be enjoyed by adults.
LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace (video release 2011-9-16) – It is hard to believe that it manages to squeeze many classic scenes in just 22 minutes, is very funny, and extremely creative. The LEGO aspect of it is not just in the character designs, but the LEGO characteristics are integrated into the plot too. This is far, far better than any Clone Wars episode. Impressive. Very Impressive.
When the D-Link router at work broke down after being used for several years, it was temporarily replaced by a TP-Link WR1043ND, arguably one of the highest performance/cost and extremely popular home router in Hong Kong. Not long after that a few people could not obtain IP address by DHCP, could not ping the router, etc.
Then the TP-Link was replaced by the obsolete 200MHz-only Linksys WRT54GS running Tomato USB firmware, then everything is back to normal. The morals of this story are:
1. Tomato USB is really one of the greatest router firmware (which I’ve known for many years) that saves the day even with an underpowered router.
2. TP-Link firmware is really for home use only.
