Asura (Blu-ray release 2013-3-22) is an unconventional animation.  Whereas The Garden of The Words gives the most beautiful view of modern Japan, Asura portrays a very dark time in the past.  The child Asura is born into a world where famine causes people to eat or sell their children for survival.  This movie brings up philosophical and moral questions about survival.  Naturally, in a movie like this, it also shows the dark side of humanity.  Whether I think this is good or not does not really matter.  If one finds this subject interesting, this would be a worthwhile movie to watch.  If one finds this subject sickening or awful, it would be wise to stay away.  Note: after the credits there is a short scene.
