Man of Tai Chi is what I call a pure Kung Fu movie – from start to finish there is an uncountable number of kung fu fight scenes with only a thin plot to hold them together.  The fights are spectacular, but the movie is not.

Even with Keanu Reeves as the director, this movie looks and feels exactly like a Chinese movie, complete with the signatures of bad CG and everything suddenly becoming fine at the end, with no explanation.  The climactic fight is especially problematic – the fight is of a slower pace than the marvelous fight scenes before it, because one of the guys obviously has much less kung fu background than the other, even though he supposedly gets the upper hand in the movie.  Another major problem is that the master of the protagonist is clearly nearby, but he does not show up during the fight.
