風暴 (Firestorm) (Blu-ray release 2014-3-5) shows an originally good Hong Kong policeman, after repeated failures to catch bad guys and losing the lives of his friend and a child, uses morally and legally wrong means to pursue them.  The action scenes are above average for a Hong Kong movie, the acting is solid, and I think two thirds of the movie are pretty good.

Although the climax shows a really large scale of police – gangster war that is rare, if not unprecedented, in Hong Kong movies, by that time the movie also becomes ludicrous.  Our hero never suffers from any major injury even after going through multiple explosions and being blown to the sky.  Hundreds of policemen fail to shoot down a few gangsters.  The CG is still not very good, but is almost tolerable now and shows an improvement from previous China / Hong Kong movies.
