The Nut Job (Blu-ray release 2014-4-15) is disappointingly average.  Basically a squirrel tries to find food for himself and for the other animals from a nut shop, which humans rented in order to dig a tunnel to rob a bank nearby.  I think the major problem with this movie is that the squirrel is really not likeable for a large part of the movie, and by the time it turns good it’s already too late for the audience to sympathize with it.  Not many jokes work, and it even includes fart jokes – not a good sign.  The design of the characters is not as cute as it needs to be, especially when compared with Pixar’s Ratatouille (2007).  I’m not looking forward to the 2016 sequel.
