Poltergeist (2015) is a remake of the 1982 classic.  Most reviews of the new version are negative, and primarily they question the need for a remake.  I try not to judge its necessity though.  Actually I think it’s not too bad, given that many remakes are often inferior to the original.

Although this version has basically the same story as before, it has some nice ideas to update the movie, and I particularly like the sequence showing the place of the dead.  The pacing is also right.  The scariness is average or a little below that, and I don’t like the performance of the father.  I do like the performance of the little girl though.  Overall even if it’s not great it’s not too bad.
