What We Do in the Shadows (Blu-ray release 2015-7-21) is an interesting horror comedy mockumentary from New Zealand. Several vampires live in a house. Instead of being scary, they are mostly idiotic. The movie starts with a family meeting and the vampires argue who should wash the dishes. Then one vampire complains that the others eat people on his beloved vintage sofa without covering the sofa first, making it dirty. A few people do get eaten in this movie, but it’s not the point. One becomes a new vampire and goes on telling everybody in town that he is a vampire.
This movie is quite funny, and it is a refreshing take on how vampires may possibly live in modern society. There are also some ideas that I believe are very new, such as vampires admiring sunrise from youtube.
Note: there is a brief extra scene after the credits.
