The Boy and the Beast (Blu-ray release 2016-2-24) is a Japanese anime fantasy movie. A lonely boy, whose father no longer sees him and his mother just died, entered a world of monsters hidden inside the modern Tokyo. (This setting is a little similar to Spirited Away (2001)).
A muscular bear toke him as his apprentice. They never stopped arguing, but their relationship grew. Although a reviewer find that boring, I find it heart warming and funny. Then it has more serious fight or action scenes. In addition to being entertaining, the movie brings a really positive message about life. Like In the Heart of the Sea, this movie also references Moby Dick, but it’s very refreshing to see humanity prevailing instead of everyone getting killed or eating other human corpses.
