Hana’s Miso Soup (Blu-ray release 2016-6-2) depicts the life of a real Japanese blogger who suffers from terminal cancer. Miraculously she becomes pregnant despite her condition, and decides to give birth to a child at the risk of deteriorating health. She teachers her daughter to cook miso soup from scratch.
The child is not annoying, this is good. This type of bittersweet movie tends to be melodramatic but this one is not, perhaps it is faithful to the reality. As a result I feel its emotional moments are not as intense as others.
