Dumbo (Blu-ray release 2019-6-25) is yet another live action adaptation of a Disney classic.  Significant changes are made to the 1941 story in order to be less unrealistic.  However, the CG does not work for me.  Everything looks fake, and every frame is shown in an unrealisitic warm tone.  Some elements from the 1941 version are included without a positive impact.  Overall this is an acceptable average family movie, but is much less successful than the other adaptations.  The movie does not have the quirky and dark elements I expect from Tim Burton movies.  Comparing to another movie about a child’s love for a CG animal, I think Okja (Netflix 2017) is much more engaging.
